Hi cooberpedy,
I have used Auriga a lot over the last two years and have always returned the car full of petrol. When you collect the car , just tell them that you are bringing the car back full and they should tell you that it is alright to do so. Usually they ask you if you intend to bring it back full before you leave the office.
I have hired cars from them for periods of 2 weeks and also 4 days. I have never had a problem on any occasion.
Hope this is of help to you
Regards
Chris

Thanks chris, we will certainly tell them we intend to return the car with a full tank, I presume they swipe the credit card on arrival and tear the slip up when the car is returned full. At least with auriga being away from the airport there should be no problem getting someone to deal with us when we return the car, we have always jsut thrown the keys either in the box inside the airport or given them to someone who seems official in the car parking lot.
While on the subject of cars, can anyone suggest which companies may be offer the best deals for car hire in May; we need at least a 7 seater for 8 days, one child seat and one booster seat + 4 adults - luggage is not a problem as we are not all arriving or departing on the same flights.

Hi Cooberpedy
Re T&C's for Auriga. Agreed difficult to pin them down on most sites, but we use www.economycarhire.co.uk and when you navigate thro. to the options of vehicle you can click on each car hire company offering the vehicles. All companies specify full to empty. Auriga specify that given the car is checked for a completely full tank on return, they will credit their fuel charge. Each time I have used them they did this at the desk, remember which credit card you used and they run it through their machine and give you the receipt for the credit. Sure enough when I get back and look online, the credit goes through within a couple of days on my online statement.
Hope that helps
John

Thanks John, we will take print outs of these pm's and show them to auriga if there is any problem when we ask for a full/full deal.
Can't wait to get there now I am almost afraid to look at the weather for next week.

Hi Yvonne,
I find the best company to use is carjet.co.uk
I use them all the time and you can specify that you want to use Auriga. Really good prices. Re. payment, you pay up front and they refund the cost of petrol onto your card a.s.a.p.
When i returned my car in December, the refund went through the next day.
Regards
Chris

I'm a little bit bewildered with this car hire buisiness, again we were declined a full/ full return this was with Solmar for 8 days and as usual we ended up returning it half full.
I asked at every desk when returning the vehicle what their terms where this is what we we told;
Solmar full/full return 6 days 7 or more return empty.
Centauro full/full return upto 24 days
Goldcar full/full return for 4 days 4 or more return empty
Auriga full/full upto 6 days 6 or more return empty.
It appears Centauro maybe the one for next time but, has anyone any knowledge of Solmar agreeing to a full/full tank for 8 days rental,
Thanks Amanda
(to clarify what I mean by full/full, pay for a full tank and the vehicle can be returned with a full tank and your money refunded) This message was last edited by ajoxley on 2/8/2007.

We have just booked through Goldcar (Europa at Murcia), as advertised on this website. Reading there terms and conditions, If you rent for 3 days or less, you have the car with a full tank, and you take the car back full, and they will then refund you. I will see if this happens next week.

Hi Amanda
Have just used Solmar for 7 days & had to return it empty - I say empty(!) didn't even use 3/4 of the tank - would have had to drive to Madrid & back to use all the diesel!
Centauro seems like the best bet at the moment then for bringing the car back full.
Anyone looked into buying a car over there? Am getting fed up with spending all this money on car hire.

Thanks for the information on Solmar the thing with these car hire companies appears to be a FREE upgrade. (nothing is free in this world)
When I looked at the terms and conditions on one of the companies it explains that the bigger and better the car the more money you part with to fill it and drive it away, in most cases we return it 3/4 full. This is another way to get 20-30 euros extra from you when you rent, it's no problem if you can return it full you only pay for what you use but when you return it 3/4 full and and have already paid for a full tank they are on a winner.
Something to bare in mind when you think you are getting a good deal on a free upgrade but you have to return the vehicle empty!
In future if I have to return it empty I will be sticking to my economy Ford KA! costs about 42 euros to fill. Free upgrade to a Ford Focus cost about 62 euros to fill - just (examples)
